Below are some examples of what faculty are adding to their syllabi. Some of these are related to a different clicker system used in the past but the language is the same. Please contact the instructors directly if you would like further details.
Another item we are suggesting to be added is that students can TEST their clickers, procure batteries, and trade-in faulty models at Techzone after purchasing them. Also perhaps something along the lines of "do not look to test this clicker with your instructor at the beginning or end of class...
Laura Vogel:
Classroom clickers: We will be using Classroom Clickers by Turning Point Technology for this class. Clickers are available at the bookstore. You will need to have your clicker and bring it to class with you each day starting August 28. I highly recommend you put in new batteries at the start of the semester. (The bookstore will be buying back used clickers). You may only use your own clicker; using someone else’s clicker in their absence will be considered cheating (see policy below).

Under Evaluation of Student Performance
Good Faith Efforts using E-Instruction
Students will take short multiple-choice quizzes with the E-instruction system at the beginning of some classes. Questions on these quizzes directly come from reading assignments. These quizzes are considered as Good Faith Efforts. A correctness of 25% or higher assures full credit of 4 points. There are approximately 15 of these assignments for the semester.
In-class Discussion
Many environmental issues are highly controversial, there are approximately 7 short in-class discussion sessions on some of these issues. Students form groups of 3-5 students to discuss these issues and then log their responses through E-instruction system. Participation in discussion sessions is worth 3 points for each session.
Under Important Notes
It is your responsibility to bring clickers to the classroom. Everybody has bad days, so if you forget to bring your clickers, you are entitled to have one clicker assignment turned in by written answers. Forgetting more than once? Bad luck!

Under Class Participation
Much of the course will involve in class participation, which will be described fully in lecture. Everyone must purchase an eInstruction personal response pad from the bookstore and perform the online registration for it (a link is provided on the class website).
